You just never know who is going to be next hot new artist. I'm always peeking through behance portfolios and blogs just to check out sick new designs.
A couple weeks ago I stumbled upon Patrick Wong while skimming through SpankyStokes one day and I read a post titled Patrick Wong's "Lose Yourself" Design 10-Doh Entry. I guess it was my love for Super Mario Bros. 3 that made me take notice. I loved the design. It was simple and it made me click through to his portfolio.
Turns out Patrick's portfolio is pretty awesome. The colours are vibrant and his designs are fun but I really like his technical approach to all of his work and he really knows how to create a narrative to his final product. You'll have to read his blog posts in detail to see what I mean.
What I found on Patrick's site was a good display of versatility. He's done vinyl, custom apparel and other surface illustrations as well. There's a really great post about Patrick designing a custom Levi's Denim Jacket for a DJ friend. I mean...look at this...It's dope.
He's been dabbling into custom toys too. A custom Mad Vinyl Toy, Couple of custom dunnys....all too dope. Do you agree?
You're gonna see a lot more of Patrick in the near and far future. Already he's getting some mad coverage on Spanky Stokes, ToysRevil, Clutter mag and Applied Arts too.
We honestly believe Patrick Wong is one of those hot new artists and there just might be something dope coming down the pipe soon. A Mindzai x Patrick Wong collab? Yes...That would be awesome, wouldn't it?
